phases in shades of pink...

Life is complicated. It not only comes in various colors but in various shades of each color. Black and white appear at opposite extremes of the spectrum and in between are all the different shades of colors. Thus, hot pink would be funky, lively and energetic while a rose white would symbolize a more serene, peaceful and pure environment. My life therefore, is colored in shades of pink.

Inside My Head

It's so weird how hearing all about something in detail, and experiencing that very same thing can be so different.

I knew the university application process was long, tedious and tiring but doing it is a whole different thing. Hours after hours and days after days in front of the computer screen is sure different than hearing about "hours after hours and days after days in front of the computer screen". So basically, even if i am able to fully express myself in the most accurate way possible, you still would have no idea what i'm really going through unless you go through the same process yourself.

Guess what? I'm happy. I just sent off one of my university applications. But this doesn't mean i'm done. There's still quite a bit more to be done and i probably won't fully complete it all till i finish my first year at university. Nonetheless, it's really relieving to be done with one. Maybe i will go to university after all...

Although i have been complaining a lot about the whole application process, it's not all that bad once you get down to it. Like many other things, just getting started helps. From there, it kind of just flows along...not very smoothly all the time, but yeah...it flows.

My last month has rotated around university applications. Even Christmas this year sort of seemed side-lined. I expect it will be the same for New Year's Day. It will really be the same for everything else until all my applications are sent out. After that...well, i've been thinking about what i want to do then cuz i'll have about six months off before i transfer to the States. I have some ideas but i'm not too sure if they'll work out yet. If they do, i'll be out of this country for a while and in the country of red, green and white for some time. That would be like a prelude to my going off to the States. But the whole thing is still really sketchy and i'm not sure if it will work out yet. Pray for me!

As you can see, i really haven't had much time do anything. Anyhow, there was something that i was thinking about but didn't have time to look up. I read an article that the recent earthquake actually jolted the earth a bit...not enough to affect the earth's rotation or anything like that, but this got me thinking. Is there any source from inside the earth that could actually cause the earth to move out of it's orbit? Normally when i think about our planet being pushed out of it's orbit (not something i usually think about), i always imagine the source being something external; like an asteroid slamming into the earth's surface with great force or something like that. I'm sure it's possible though that a disturbance in the earth's rotation could be caused by something internal and not just by the external. Hmmm...well, this is something i gotta look up when i get the time.

So many shades of pink.

Ciao!

Actually if you're really serious about this working in Italy thing, my cousin was telling me today about this 'apple picking scheme';wherein people from all over the place travel to europe to pick apples(and other fruits of sorts). The money is good (~20eu~), and some places provide acomodation and even food. All that is requiered is a workers license, which basically gives you liberty to stay in the country for a couple of months, but you can only work in places which requires manual labor - which I think is quite fun if you're just picking apples

Well i could enlighten u a little bout the quake but i would like to know more bout the Italy tour.Frankly i wouldn't mind picking apples as long as its aint Malaysia!Well the devastation that detoured South East Asia started off with a tectonic plate movement within earth surface which actually led to thousand miles of movement of mass land ( for ex. india was moved further to northeast about 1000 miles from Indonesia). This occured due to the separation of tectonic plates between India and Burma which actually resulted one Island in Nicobar Bay or Andaman , im not really sure of the facts, to move across International Waterways into India! So basically one mass of land (island) floated; got alift and sailed enroute to India!Tsunami will be the aftermath of an earth quake and normally it would engage a large wave currents being induced from the movement of tectonic plates within the sea bed.But what makes matters worst, is when Tsunamis strikes ports or lands which are close to open sea; as wave pattern might turn vigorous once vibrations occur within the water wave after hitting land!Well when it comes to man made force and natural force, you dont wanna procastinate the severity these natural force can do!Held my lil prayer prayer for them.Ive got a tour pack enroute to UK for rm3060 including the basics travel needs!Goodday.

although im not science person nevertheless I've been an extensive engineering student in the past, and great is the interest that i have over natural disasters...

hehe i could give you an almost complete write up on the quake..but I'll opt to answer your question to not bore you.

by common sense (according to Newton's Law) ....it is very possible that the Earth be pushed off its orbit by a natural phenomenon.

the post-christmas quake created a 'fault' of 50ft in change, the plates usually takes 2 inches per year to move...so this basically means within a second it has done an activity to the equavalent of 300 years..and hence the mighty displament of water (or shock waves)

although this quake was one of the mightiest in recorded history...little did it do to move the Earth itself...

a more plausible choice to give significant change to the Earth's orbits would be Volcano's ....but it has to be a mighty one...one whose might exceeds many folds the legendary eruption of Krakatoa and Tempura.

and to give a vague example of the might of Krakatoa...well its explosion was heard till the Islands of Rodriguez near Mauritius...(some 4800 kms away from the source)

by common sense, only a violent gush of magma many folds of that example may prove to give some significant change to the Earth's orbit, but that also means...Tsunamis (or megatsunamis) more than 600 metres tall could form upon the shores of its mark and perhaps travel at devastating speeds of 1000km/h even at coastal shelves.

(to give a comparison...the post christmas tsunamis were no more than 10 metres high and travelled at 500mph in sea...and perhaps 100 mph at coastal shelves.)

whole continents can be wiped out by such waters.

Such events are what we call an Apocalypse

Hey Michael,
Thanks for the idea. The thing is, i've gotta figure out how to go about the whole job thing. It's gonna be more complicated than i thought. That's rather disappointing. Anyway, i'll tell you about it when i next see you.

Ashok,
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Have fun in the UK!

Apocalyptic Seraph,
So basically, the earth can be destroyed by natural cause.

But what about it being knocked out of orbit? Is it possible for something to happen from within the earth that could cause the earth to be jerked out of the pull from the sun? It would have to be something that could overcome the gravity pull of the sun. Anyway, thanks for the input. I learned a lot.

hey daeni...i was just reading ur blog as usual...and i read tht this earthquake actually did cause a difference in the earths rotation...bout 3-point-something microseconds slower. anyway, tht was wht i heard on the news. not sure on the latest details though...take care.

Hey Nat,
That's really interesting. That's the sort of thing i am curious about. Thanks so much for sharing that.

Do you mean the world rotates on it's axis at 3. something microseconds slower, or it's orbit around the sun at 3. something microseconds slower? Meaning we have an extra moment in time eachday? Hmmm..

Dear daenielle, isn't the internet amazing? I was out looking for info and sites related to Christmas trees and the search put up your post 'Inside My Head'. Whilst it's not exactly what I was looking for I can see why it came up when I searched on Christmas trees and other terms. Just thought I'd let you know I stopped by. Bye for now and thanks for a good read!

Hi daenielle, I was looking around for information about Christmas trees and found your Inside My Head post. It's not bang on what I was looking for but it was a good read so I'm glad I found it! I can see why it showed up when I searched on the term Christmas trees. Thanks a lot and I'll stop by again :-)
