phases in shades of pink...

Life is complicated. It not only comes in various colors but in various shades of each color. Black and white appear at opposite extremes of the spectrum and in between are all the different shades of colors. Thus, hot pink would be funky, lively and energetic while a rose white would symbolize a more serene, peaceful and pure environment. My life therefore, is colored in shades of pink.

I'll Always Remember...

Last night I had the time of my life! Surprises left, right, centre...and wonderful ones at that! I'm still trying to absorb it all. I've got so many people to thank for so many things...

Here's what my cousins surprised me with: (They gave me their speeches after the event, so I shall quote directly from their messy scribbling.)

We are here today to present to you the seven wonders of Daenielle. 1st on the list:

1. Lady of the House
Daenielle aka Small Aunty Doreen takes on the responsibility of supervising the house and keeping track of the boys when Aunty Doreen is not in. She is a great sister, daughter and future Lady of the House. (I think you might get a slightly different perspective if you talk to my brothers...hehe)

2. Miss Pink
If you're looking for any shade of the color pink, Daenielle is 'the' person to contact. Her pink ranges from jewelry to pencil cases to even pink pants. So, what does pink denote? Colors are thought to reflect your personality. Daenielle's would be in shades of pink - funky and energetic yet sweet and pure. Voila! There she is the sweet Daenielle in a pink shawl.

3. Aspiring Soprano
We may very well be sitting in the midst of the next Pavarotti/Charlotte Church. Her love for music and singing makes her quite the songbird as she adds a twist to any song she sings. Look out America, here comes the next American Idol. (Ok, now this is seriously exaggerated...I only sing for fun and not half as good as they make it sound.)

4. The Italian Ragazza
A weekend in Italy converted Daenielle into an Italian Ragazza. As you know, Ragazza means 'chick' in Italian. And by the way she speaks about Italy, you would think that she was born and bred there. Daenielle has this amazing interest in art, history and culture. It was also in Italy she found her true love. While walking throught the chartered streets one day, whe stopped, she saw, her mouth drooled with awe, it was like love at first sight and she knew she has found her one and only...PIZZA MARGHERITA!

It sparked one of the longest love stories of Daenielle and food. Till today, she's proud to promote the Italian food and beverage department. Viva italiano!

5. The Kiasu Kid
Daenielle is passionate about her sudies. She does very well in classes. And when she comes back from the U.S. after doing sociology, she may very well analyze our society's structure. Take it easy Nell, Malaysia boleh! (The studies part is overrated...I do just enough to stay above the water. Patrick and Kevin, this sound familiar?)

6. Great Blogger
Daenielle has a passion for writing. She sees things in carious ways. She never fails to inspire us with her though provoking fuse, crazy ideas and daily musings on her blog. A blog in today's world is an online version of a journal. Here's some of the facts you will find on Daenielle's blog:
- Starfish have no brains.
- The more money you have, the more money you need.
- I might actually enjoy my younger brothers pouring cold water down my back when I'm intently reading a book.
- She even has an "I've never..." list.

For those of you who wish to check out her blog, please log on to: www.pinkphases.blogspot.com. This by the way is a pair advertisement - Nell, I'm waiting for my check! (What nonsense...I didn't even ask for this!!!)

So, there you go ladies and gentlemen, this is what writing does to us. Daenielle, a creative girl with a creative mind!

7. Devoted Child of God
Daenielle loves God and is faithful to follow Him. Her active participation in church, youth groups and bible studies show her love for God and His word. Her light and radiance source from God and is sure to influence and attract people around her. (I have to say I felt guilty at this part because I am sinful like everyone else yet you guys made me sound so good...I'm no where near what I should be.)

The Bible denotes that 7 is a complete number. And to us these 7 wonders complete Daenielle as the wonderful woman she is today. On behalf of all the cousins, we wish you all the best and we will miss the colors you bring to our lives. We love you and don't ever ever forget or else... God bless and enjoy yourself. Thank you. Now we would like to dedicate a song to her.

Time of Your Life (Green Day)

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Cousins, you guys sang beautifully. Gosh! The amount of time and effort put into this whole event is shocking...sorry cousins for stealing your sleeping time in exchange for dark circles around your eyes. But you guys really did an amazing job...I'll always remember this!

Jess posted some pictures from my farewell dinner, so here they are.

Hi Daenielle, I dunno if u'd remember me. This is Sereena, Rupinder's wife. Well, I decided to check out yr blog as writing is somewhat a passion of mine too.. Anyway, wishing you all the best in yr future undertakings. I may not knw u or yr family too well as Rupinder does, but I hope the bond that you all had won't just fade away. All the best once again. BTW, I have always mentioned to Rupinder that I admire your elegance. Indeed, you are the little Aunty Doreen and you have such a wonderful charisma in you.

So, I'm having a rough day and I've decided to drop by in here again just to reminisce. I'm listening to Time of Your Life while reading this. I miss people back home. But life goes on...
